formatting of unordered lists seems broken

In 'how to create and share a recipe' http://www.zettajs.org/recipes/2014/10/01/Write-A-Recipe.html i have markdown that looks like this:

* Write clear, concise instructions using the tone of a command:
  * Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  * Stir the butter and sugar until smooth.
  * Connect the red wire from Breadboard H18 to BeableBone P9 32.
* Use as few words as possible.
  * But no fewer.
* Show all relevant commands in the terminal.

When rendered the sub items in the list look too far apart:
