Like many actual objects throughout history, many emojis have been used as phallic symbols, most prominently the Aubergine/Eggplant 🍆, Banana 🍌 and Corn/Maize Cob 🌽 emojis, but also Hotdog/Sausage 🌭 #40, Mushroom 🍄, Cucumber/Gherkin/Pickle 🥒, Carrot 🥕, Baguette Bread 🥖, Shrimp 🍤, Oden 🍢, Popping Wine Bottle 🍾, Lipstick 💄, Nose 👃, Necktie 👔, Sagittarius ♐️, Snake 🐍, Unicorn 🦄, Rocket 🚀, Locomotive/Train 🚂🚅, Tower 🗼, Joystick 🕹, Tools 🔧🔨⛏, Screw/Bolt 🔩, Gun/Pistol 🔫, Dagger 🗡, Pill 💊, Pen/Pencil/Nib/Brush ✏️🖊🖋✒️🖍🖌, Ruler 📏, Pushpin 📍, Chart 📈, Cherries 🍒 (for testicles) and possibly other emojis for their graphic appearance as well (some depending on the vendor image, e.g. for the Bug 🐛). They mostly represent an Erect Penis or even, in case of the popping bottle or Spouting Whale 🐳, an Ejaculating Penis, which is otherwise usually indicated by an adjacent Sweat, Drop, Drip or Splash symbol 💦💧, or an Explosion 💥 or Sparkles ✨ for orgasm. The existing Umbrella emojis can represent the three penile states: lush 🌂, stiff ☂️, cumming ☔️ (but at least the latter is propagated as a metaphorical Condom emoji instead). Dildos and Vibrators have been pictured by much the same emojis, but also the Cactus 🌵 for instance. In the context of fellatio, even more emojis may also be used for the Penis, e.g. an Ice Cream Cone 🍧, a Lollipop / Sucker 🍭 or a Candy Bar 🍫.

Linguistic metaphors depend on the language of the context. They may coincide with the graphic ones mentioned already, but also include, for instance, the Cock(erel/Rooster) 🐓 in English and the Monkey 🐒 or Sprout 🌱 elsewhere.

Classic ASCII line art varies significantly, especially to emphasize exceptional short or long sizes. Normalized to a two-character shaft length, they may look like these: <==3, 3==D, 3==>, 3==0, 3==O. The digit three 3 is canonically used to represent the testicles, but the glans (tip or head) has a larger number of symbolic characters. Dripping Sperm (“Cum”) or Urine (“Pee”) may be indicated by an added tilde character ~.
