grocertrack provides access to a data storage and manipulation system, available for licensing to food retail companies who are seeking a simplistic way to collect, store, and analyze data from their business. Partnered businesses are able to view, modify, add, and delete data through a customized webpage catered to the companies needs. The implementation of grocertrack will be an extensive cost-minimization tool as it increases efficiency within the business.

grocertrack is targeted to any small or large scale food retailers across the United States and Canada who are looking for an innovative way to improve their business and differentiate themselves from their competition.

Description of Data

In order to to determine and prove the efficacy of grocertrack, it was of high importance that the data used was as realistic as possible. Due to the incredible scale and size of the grocery industry, there were many variables to take into account when generating synthetic data. Most of the data was generated using a realistic data generator mockaroo (https://www.mockaroo.com) Image

Queries

  • Finding total sales from customers with X dependents will allow a company to analyze their demographic. For example, a company will be able to identify if their demographic is heavily family based and will be able to coordinate their marketing strategy in that respect.

  • Finding the sum of sales for each store within a given time interval will allow a company to view the total sales of each of their subsidiaries within a specified time period. This could show a company which subsidiaries are performing superiorly or inferiorly within a set time constraint.

  • Finding all items that have X promotions in a given time period will allow a company to identify how many promotions they are giving out at a specific time and could alter their marketing strategies with regards to the data returned.

  • Finding all promotions offered by a specific brand and returning the total rebate amount given back to customers will allow a company to realize how effective certain promotions are which could help dictate future promotion decisions.
