3. The Configurator
On the home screen press the bottom left "settings" logo. After entering the settings menu, the top left "WiFi" button starts the webserver that hosts the configurator. At the same time BLE is disabled to stop any interference with the WiFi signal.
Open your browser and go to http://freetouchdeck.local. If for some reason mDNS doesn't work on your network, you can also use the IP address that is shown on your FreeTouchDeck. You will be greeted by a welcome message. You will also see a menu which takes you to different sections of the configurator that correspond to the different configurable options on the FreeTouchDeck.
On the "General" settings page you can define the colors that are being used by FreeTouchDeck:
- Menu Button Colour: is the color of a button that has a menu under it.
- Fucntion Button Colour: is the color of a button that is a function/action.
- Latch Colour: is the color of a button when it is latched.
- Background Colour: is the color of the background.
You can also set the sleep-timer. When his times expires FreeTouchDeck will go into deep sleep to save power consumption.
On the "Home screen" settings page you can change the logo that is used for each menu. If you want a different logo, you can upload your own. Be sure to read the "Upload" section carefully as there are some gotcha's! You can't change to which menu a menu button points, but you can configure the underlying menu to your need.
Each menu can be configured separately. Each menu settings page works the same. You will be presented a few options per button. The first option is the logo. The current logo is selected. By clicking on the dropdown arrow, you can select a different logo. This list is loaded from the "/logos" directory on the ESP. If you haven't uploaded logo yet, these are the default logo's. If you have already uploaded a logo, it should be listed.
Per button you have the option to configure 3 actions. Each action is preformed in order. The current actions are displayed. Each action has a two lists. A list to select the type of key and the actual keystroke.
If you check the "Latch?" option, you can select an image to latch to. If no image is selected a dot is used to indicate that a button is latched.
Button 6 is always the "back home" button and cannot be configured. Although it shows what looks like a list for the logo, the only option is the default "home.bmp".
On the upload tab you can upload a new image to FreeTouchDeck which you can use as a menu of function button logo. If you want to learn how to create a new logo check out this wiki: Creating a logo
