Introduction
The ESP32 Touchdown was born out of the need/want for a capacitive touch screen module that could easily work with an ESP32. When I initially started designing, I just had a PCB with some FPC connectors for a screen to plug in. This would then have header pins to interface with an ESP32. While designing, I realized that it would make sense to put the ESP32 module on the PCB itself, eliminating the need to connect the two.
This was the start of the ESP32 TouchDown as it now. I contemplated a while about which features I would like the board to have and eventually came up with a design which includes the 480*320 screen with capacitive touch controller, and ESP32-WROOM-32D module, an USB to serial interface, a piezo speaker, an microSD-Card socket, battery management (plus connector), all unused GPIO's broken out and a Stemma (trademark Adafruit) I2C connector.
The whole board is designed in KiCad and I decided to make it all Open Source, because if it wasn't for people sharing their designs I wouldn't have learned what I know now. So I feel it is fair to do the same.
This Wiki will hopefully cover any question you might have. I will go in to the features one by one.
I hope you have fun with the ESP32 TouchDown and thanks for being a part of my journey!
