Overflowing the refcount of the hax KSemaphore seems to not be speed up on New3DS in some cases #5
Comments
Using both steelhax and oot3dhax on my 11.0 N3DSXL resulted in O3DS speed (approx 1h10m total) |
Also 11.0 N3DSXL, US region (doubt that matters). Steelhax resulted in O3DS speed for me as well, all 5 attempts. (I'm having problems getting it to realize I have Legends of Exidia installed.) Stickerhax seems to be taking as long but I'm too lazy to do the math at the moment (just started it.) I thought about being clever and using HANS to launch the games at N3DS speed, but they hang when loading HBL in that case. |
Could you please test this and tell me if it's faster? |
I'll give it a shot when I get home from work later tonight. I still
haven't had any luck with either version of the Hax, but I'll raise a
separate issue for that/ask on Reddit/IRC later.

With the only hax I've noticed that goes more quickly is with homemenuhax, other hax have the o3DS speed. |
using the test build ? |
I have the test file running on N3DS XL US using OOT entry. Will report back when finished. EDIT: 40Min in and I'm only at "a" count. And Done: 1H 10M - With test version. If you need anything more info I can provide. |
I'd be happy to test, but at this point I've already used it to switch to AL9H+Luma, so I don't know a) if I even can, or b) if it would be helpful. If the answer to both is yes, let me know and I'll try it again with OOT as an entrypoint. I'm on 11.2 now, so I know it'll kernel panic once it finishes, but at least I can tell you what speed it ran at. |
@airwa1kin7 system version? |
@Mrrraou 11.0.0-33u |
New version completed in just under 20min. Same entry point OOT. 11.0.0-33u. Issue fixed. Average time in lines: 5.24 Seconds |
I use the newest waithax version you posted 30mins ago. Can already tell it still runs at O3DS speed. |
Tested with both the version above and your new release, still seems to run at O3DS speed. Also testing using Menuhax since others reported that it got N3DS speed. Still ~15-16 seconds per line. |
New 3DS 11.0.0-33E. Takes exactly 68 minutes (tried five different times) when using (v*)hax, freakyhax, oot3dhax, or genhax as the entrypoint. No difference between the original waithax release or with the recent update. |
N3DS 11.1.0.34U here with Ninjhax, it took a bit over an hour to complete as well. |
I'll be on CFW soon, but let me know if you'd like me to cart update to 11.0 (via Pokemon Moon, assuming it has 11.0) rather than online update to 11.2 to help test any fixes. |
An IRC user (Niklink_ in #Cakey) has reported that they have gotten both o3DS times and n3DS times when running waithax from the same entrypoint, freakyhax. Or, rather, that they have gotten the n3DS time once, and gotten O3DS times most every other time. There is no particular action that could have caused it that they know of. |
Having now tried v1.0.2 of waithax with soundhax and the new *hax2.8, I now get N3DS speed. I've only tried waithax with soundhax one time, so it's possible that this was just a fluke for whatever reason. |
Cause unknown. Needs investigation.
Probably linked to #2. Maybe related to the used entrypoint ?
