Any way to add columns inside?

Is there a way to add columns to a section of text? I found something in this Stackexchange response, is this still applicable with this template?

This should work with Eisvogel, but I haven't tried it myself. I added an example columns to the examples folder that shows how to get a two column document with just the classoption twocolumn in the metadata block:
