Including parentheses in data values in GS1 AI syntax messages

I use online-qrcode-generator.com - Barcode-Generator for get a gs1 datamatrix image.

I have a string
010290002846701521abcd(X)93aaaa
AI=01 - GTIN (length 14) = 02900028467015
AI=21 - Serial Number (length 7) = abcd(X) -
AI=93 - checksum (length 4) = aaaa

So, I embrace AI with brackets (01)02900028467015(21)abcd(X)(93)aaaa
and get a image file.
But the image contains string:
010290002846701521abcdX93aaaa
There are no brackets in Serial Number now.

In console I have the same result with
node raw_file gs1datamatrix (01)02900028467015(21)abcd(X)(93)aaaa

What am I doing wrong?

Use the parse option and specify the parentheses by their ASCII value:

Barcode:  GS1 DataMatrix
Contents: (01)12345678901231(21)abcd^040X^041(93)aaaa
Options:  parse

In our docs ASCII 029 is GS character for variable length fields.

Your scanner is broken since the encoding is fine:

Regarding FNC1 vs GS1 as the variable-length AI separator, FNC1 is the correct internal encoding in the internal barcode message. The transmission protocol defines that interstitial FNC1 characters must be transferred as ASCII 21 (GS) characters.

The recipient of the scanned barcode data is not able to tell the difference between an encoded FNC1 and GS character leading to the confusion that the barcode should in fact be encoded with GS character separators rather than FNC1. GS1 have amended the General Specification to be "tolerant" of this mistake, but nevertheless the canonical encoding requires the use of FNC1.
