Messages should support the ability for me to add a strikethrough

Why would you like to do it?

Sometimes I'd like to edit a message, leaving the old/out-of-date text while updating with the new text

How would you like to achieve it?

Surround a piece of text with ~, as is the markdown standard

Markdown isn't a standard, its a cluster of many hundreds of standards, the markdown standard Element uses (Commonmark) doesn't support ~
