"Need Hive for your iPhone?"
"Need Hive for your mobile device?"

or something.

Let's align this with hive-js' end of June release. I'd like to have a security review of hive-js before recommending it to our users.

Is something like this enough, or do you want a bigger window with more content?

Looks good, but how about a menu item or something like this?

"Other Hive products..."

I'm not a fan of in-your-face dialogs for advertisement. Is there a low effort value we could add that ties in with the mobile wallet? Then we could add a "mobile" tab that doubles as advertisement?
Maybe Waggle?

I like the "Other Hive products" approach. But maybe expand that to "Try Hive Android" and "Check out Hive Web" or something like that

How many people are going to find a new entry hidden in the menu? I don't think a one-time popup will hurt anyone...

I was thinking that it'd be its own "Other Hive products" menu :p

I agree that a one time popup isn't so bad. But we should have that nice menu item :-)

It's not so much that I find it annoying, but also ineffective. It's like a video player asking me to update when I start it to watch a movie, or a notes app that asks me for AppStore ratings when I start it to write something down. I'm just gonna click that away because it's actively in the way of what I want to do.

And if it's one-time, I've missed my chance to do it later.

I would suggest a notification that stays on screen until I click it away, but doesn't get in the way of what I started the app for and doesn't force me to think about it right away. So at the very least, the dialog should also have a "Later…" button.

We need comments from @jenbennings @haustraliaer @mattatgit on this.

We could add it as an extra tab in the main menu - a kind of 'other products' tab that shows hive web/android/ios and things Hive is working on (crowdsale?). If we actively want to promote it I doubt anyone would go to an option in the top (OSX) menu bar.

To me that's less intrusive than a popup, but maybe it's getting in the way of the core functions of the app.

Yeah i'd say the options are: extra tab or maybe a link at bottom of Apps screen (Get more Apps • Other Hive products )

Extra tab is a stupid idea imho (sorry). It would mean promoting something that users will use probably on average only once during their whole period of using Hive to the same level of importance as essential features like contact or transaction list.

How about a one-time banner on the profile page (i.e. something not modal that doesn't block you from doing anything) that goes away when you close it with an "X" (mockup below) + an entry in the top menu right below "About Hive" that either opens a new dialog or just links to https://hivewallet.com?

I've added such popup window that will show up at startup ("Ok, thanks" hides it forever):

I'll also try to find a place for some links in the "explore" tab once I add that, perhaps in 1.5 (see #446).
