General Requirements

This is a module for tracking sales taxes and VAT. It tracks taxes collected by the business from customers on behalf of government agencies. Some systems allow money paid in taxes to be claimed against other taxes. For example sales or vat taxes collected in the process of buying and selling goods may be able to be deducted against further liability in taxes going forward.

Taxes collected from customers, paid to vendors, and paid to authorities must be able to be separated into three accounts if needed.

Built-in Modules

We will ship with two initial tax modules, a Simple tax module with the logic largely borrowed from 1.2 and a thresholded module with the logic borrowed from 1.4.

Custom modules are possible without much difficulty and they have full access to the financial document, and can perform arbitrary calculations on it.
