Before cloning repo you should have Postgres installed. You can get various installation instructions here
Once you have PostgreSQL You must create a user with the same name of the app (fb-clone)
-
First enter Postgres console
psql postgres
-
Next create the database user with whichever password you would like
create role fb-clone with createdb login password 'password1';
-
You should now see the user on your list of users. Enter
\du
to see the list. (Typeq
to come out of list) -
You can then come out of PostgreSQL console by typing
\q
To get started with the app, clone the repo and then install the needed gems:
$ bundle install --without production
Next, migrate the database:
$ rails db:migrate
Finally, run the test suite to verify that everything is working correctly:
$ rails test
If the test suite passes, you'll be ready to run the app in a local server:
$ rails server
