A first attempt at using Epic RealityCapture to digitize the Quansheng UV-K5(8) metal PCB mount/shield by photogrammetry.
Useful enough for my purposes of mechanical design of K5 radio hacks and enhancements. This could also be used as a basis of a proper solid model in other software.
There is a RealityCapture project included in this repo. If you do use it, upon opening RealityCapture, it will protest and ask if you want to locate the photos & masks used. Answer "Yes" and surf to the folders named "Group 1" and "Group 2". From there the project will load. When saved, the local path to the photos will be saved in the project.
Once loaded in RealityCapture the model can be regenerated by using the "Align Images" button in Workflow-->2. Process-->Align Images or pressing F6 to generate the aligned pointcloud.
Meshes can be had by pressing F5 to regnerate the whole model. Various exports can be generated from Workflow-->3. Output --> Export
For those who want to use the results without going through RealityCapture, the model comes in three flavors located in the Exported Models folder of the repo:
- OBJ format with mesh and texture
- STL mesh and colorized point cloud in XYZ format
- A Rhino-3D model with mesh and colorized point cloud that has been scaled (approximately)
Additional content has been leveraged from the excellent KICAD schematic capture and PCB project for the K5.
Many thanks to mentalDetector and the community for all the great resources.
