Home automation app for UI/UX Design course
The goal of this android application was to design a user friendly application in which users are able to adapt and use naturaly. While developing the UI/UX of the application we wanted the main features to be quickly accessible to the users by homescreen. The buttons were created to suite the intended function. The design was focused on using bright colors, big fonts and big buttons. This app was mainly intended to create a design so working features are not yet implemented.
The design was inspired by the four features we inteded for users to use. Our homescreen gave the users the ability to select thermostat, monitor, lighting, settings and tasks.

- Adjust the temperature within a home
- Open the app
- Tap thermostat icon on the home screen
- Tap the ‘Schedule’ Icon // no implemented
- Select the day of the week to edit
- Select the time frame to modify
- Select the temperature to set the thermostat
- Enter desired temperature into adjust field
Control smart lights within your home
- Tap the ‘Lights’ icon on the homescreen
- Tap ‘Create a room’
- Give the room a name
- Add a light to the room
- Tap the light or room to control
- Set the desired brightness
Monitor security events within your home
- Open the app
- Tap the ‘My Home’ icon on the home screen
- View security camera video feed // not implemented
- Tap the ‘Cameras’ icon
- Observe the video feed
- Lock or Unlock a door
- Tap the ‘Doors’ icon
- Select which door to edit
- Tap the desired status and accept the prompt
- Open or Close a garage
- Tap the ‘Garage’ icon
- Tap the desired status and accept the prompt
Set up a new workflow
- Tap the workflows icon
- Tap ‘Create a new workflow’
- Give your new workflow a name
- Tap ‘Add a task’
- Add trigger to the task. IE: When my location is “Home”
- Add action to the task. IE: Unlock my front door
- Add exceptions to the task. IE: Unless it is a holiday
- Save the workflow
