I get the "no network issue" on various apps (even without using uBO), I usually close then reopen such app to get a normal behaviour. For example I get it on FB app. |
i write before i clicked on the link but... to be precise, whenever i have that YT no network thing, EVERYTHING ELSE works fine network related. I can browse other websites, ftp, ssh... just YT. That's the reason why i wanted to bring this to your attention. I will read the link you provided now. |
i have never had issues before with a 'no network' thing on any other app, i do not have a FB account and basically only use this one phone for Firefox and SSH as long as this is on the radar, i believe i can't help much more than this. I will continue doing the force stop + cache clearing until maybe a fix is available. I wish i could contribute more with a keyboard and a computer but there i am. Thanks for taking the time. I will be back if i see any changes or to reply to any questions other than 'how to use my phone'. THANK YOU stephenHAWK! |
just in case this could have been a geographical roll out, i'm in Qc, Canada |
and again, that's not an APP issue, it comes strsight from a snippet in YT, let it be clear... i don't even lose SSH connections while this happens EDIT: and this is when it happens the first time, if i refresh, i loose all graphics most of the time and then only text is visible. Funny how that happens, you would think all them small images would be in cache already yet something prevents the site from loading at all. |
That's a bug in Firefox itself that will be fixed in |
I think you mean v136? |
Ah, right. |
Great then. The amount of coincidences is a bit odd to me. Not getingt the no network when i disable UB was also concerning. I'm hopeful this will be resolved in a near future, mind you i didn't check for FF updates since so it might be out already. Also, i don't remember this appearing after an update of FF so i figured it was a change in YT base code, most likely in response to using a blocker (again, i do NOT get the issue when UB is disabled, that is, after disabling, force stopping and clearing the cache, which is contrary to what other say) i used to see the no network thing every three-four days, once maybe, when switching from wifi to LTE in a weird spot. Then a refresh or even clicking their 'retry' button used to clear things up in an instant. I might try downgrading FF to see if there's a change but that would only prove the issue had always been in FF and a codebase change triggered it after nearly every video watch. It may be annoying to force stop and clear cache but alot less than viewing ads when disabling UB so (again, i do not get the issue with UB disabled) Thanks for your time, will come back soon and offer my input if i see changes in behaviors |
For reference, another user is having the same issue even without uBO: https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/comments/1ihx7at/youtube_not_loading_firefox_developer_edition/ Note that the change might not be Firefox' change. YouTube updates their code all the times and it could cause issues to Firefox even when Firefox doesn't have any changes, so downgrading might not be the right decision. You are using an old Firefox version, so try updating it to newest one (v134), then you can try this in
Restart the browser and test again. I can't assure it would work, but you can try. This is the most we can help right now. Since this is most likely not related to uBO, we won't discuss this issue more, and it's better to reach out to Firefox community instead. |
this is the version i was using this whole time, there was no update from my initial 'report' and now. That is the latest version.
From what i said before, you seem to say the same thing, in a different way. IF this this a FF bug, downgrading won't help and no one can control YT codebase. Maybe you made it clearer in your words, which is fine. More details... it seems that i also had success with using airplane mode for about 5-10 seconds, which disables everything network related (wifi included unless reactivated). It would appear that, most of the time, the error vanishes and i get a green bar saying network connected under the previsouly shown picture. With running SSH in the background almost constantly (i know i can use screens and tmux and others), i always avoid using such drastic measure of airplane mode but i was in a position to test and it worked about 85% of the time, without having to clear cache and force stop. I'm more and more convinced this is an outstanding issue between FF and whatever YT code base change they could have made, as previously stated. I would close but it seems you guys work VERY differently than any other places with issues. I guess i didn't start it so i can't close it. But i also couldn't officially start an issue without goign around in a circle by clicking links to other issues. No need to explain. All is well. At the very least i don't have to suffer the terrible, terrible ads on YT. If maybe you thought i was on an older version of FF, it could have been because i have changed, as stated before, my UA and pixel size ratio in about/config so as to always be presented a browser version. I also depend on that UA for SSH port knocking on some networks i work with. thanks. Should you make it clear, i will not post anymore, otherwise, i will further post any meaningful developments. also, btw, the non beta version of FF doesnt allow about/config anymore since about at least 6 months, maybe even more, hence why i use the beta (on android anyways) EDIT: chrome://geckoview/content/config.xhtml -> does this also work on non beta? If so, then thats great. I switched to 3 for network.trr.mode, it was 0, i did really do it blindly without any research but hey, it's worth a try. EDIT 2 (for.completeness): mode 3 had no effect to the issue and in fact, after research, mode 2 would have been best overall but 3 would diagnose faster. |
Yes, it will work on non-beta, but you'll need to type it manually. The value 3 of |
Confirm issue is gone with new FF beta
That is great news, i wasn't aware. Thanks |
I encountered a problem today where, while using uBlock Origin, YouTube would show a loading spinner upon clicking play but never actually displaying the video. I was able to reproduce this in a fresh browser profile with https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u75qyNJyEHg. Weirdly, it seems to be related to my account in some way. uBlock Origin seems to work properly when I'm not logged in, and logging in breaks it. Additionally, if I disable uBlock Origin and play the pre-run ad in the fresh profile, I can then view the video in my main profile with uBlock Origin enabled. However, I was unable to get this happening consistently. Some videos that I have problems with in my main profile, like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S01D-J1AQyo, play without issue in the fresh profile. Here is the requested troubleshooting information:
|
Can you screenshot the whole screen with the issue? |
@aphedges Can you allow the site to autoplay in Firefox and test again? |
What do you mean by that? Are you saying I should disable the "Block Audio and Video" option for "Autoplay"? I can't reproduce the problem at the moment on either video, so I'll try again later and see if that helps. |
I have this issue very often with autoplay blocked. The play button in the middle never works, the one on the bottom left works only sometimes. What always work for me is the k keyboard shortcut. |
I got a similar issue as the poster above. Youtube videos play for about 19 seconds and then stop loading. After a while I get the error "Something went wrong. Refresh or try again later.". This only happens when I'm logged in, in an incognito window, or fresh profile without logging in, it works fine. Tested in a fresh profile of ungoogled chromium (manifest v2), happens on both Linux and Windows.
Interestingly enough, I still can't watch a video while being logged in after disabling uBlock. I also tried to use Cloudflare DNS instead of an adblocking DNS to make sure Youtube isn't detecting that. It also doesn't seem to be serving ads anywhere on YT if I disable uBlock while being logged in. This feels like a shadow ban. EDIT: I did get an ad to play, but I still can't watch videos on my account. |
Is it from different devices? |
That's a kind of hard question to answer, since the Windows "machine" is a VM with passed through hardware. So I guess the answer is yes? |
Can you test in another real device with different network? |
I logged in on Vanadium on my phone over 5G. YouTube works, and continues to work over WiFi. EDIT: Just tried on firefox, works fine there. Tried updating to the latest version of ungoogled chromium on Windows, issues persists there. |
I suspect this is more related to browsers and youtube than uBO: https://www.reddit.com/r/uBlockOrigin/comments/1iol6pg/youtube_megathread_ads_detection_or_breakages/mckejnx/ so I won't investigate into this more. Btw, if you only see the issue when logging in, it usually means that they are A/B testing something and making conflicts to browsers' network configs. |
I suspect you're right, I hope I can disable this through an experiment flag. |
It's been a day, and I still can't reproduce the problem I reported around 22 hours ago. If it comes back, I'll try enabling autoplay and see if it works. |
Note: After each step, close your current tabs and open new tab to test again or it won't work.
I have created a new browser profile with only uBO and its default settings, and confirmed the issue still occurs in that new profile
