DT element change to default role=term (ARIA Working Group Comment)

Based on discussion in the ARIA working group on 12/8//2016 and 12/15/2016 we would like to see the mapping for the DT element changed from LISTITEM to TERM.

NOTE: ARIA 1.2 will address the roles TERM and DEFINITION being part of a definition list.

If term is effectively to be mapped as a special list item, then it makes it reasonable for dt. But it means that term can no longer be used for the dfn element. Are there plans to provide a role that would work for the dfn element? In other words, is there going to be a new role like term, but that doesn't restrict it to a list context? See aria issue #455.

@jongund Is ARIA's current thinking still that HTML dt should map to ARIA term role?

The term role now has no list semantics. HTML dfn maps to the term role. Is it still the right fit for dt?

Looks like the term role is appropriate for dt now that it has no list semantics, and the list semantics of dt/dd will be dealt with in ARIA 1.2. Updating mappings accordingly in 7f07e8a. Closing.
