CSS is a collection of Eclipse Plug-ins.
System integrators select plug-ins that they want to offer to their users, define the site-specific settings for access to network, database etc., add a 'Welcome' screen that guides users through their initial steps, and the result is then a Product. For details on how to create a product, refer to generic Eclipse RCP programming books like "Eclipse Rich Client Platform" J. McAffer, J.-M. Lemieux, and C. Aniszczyk, and also check the documentation that is included with the org.csstudio.startuphelper plugin.
