Google Chrome

Memory consumption

Just some note about RAM; in my unscientific observations I saw that as a rule of thumb a Chrome tab consumes between 50 and 250 MB of RAM. On average 120-150 MB.

Enterprise policies

Browser extensions

  • AdblockPlus - Stops ads.
    • See here how to add custom rules to stop appearing "people also search for" in Google search.
  • SessionBuddy - Save sessions from Chrome; never loose your open tabs
  • DJSON. - JSON Viewer, Formatter, Prettifier
  • TabModifier - Modify tab icons/title; parse/reorder titles/pages
  • Redirector - Changes URLs using RegEx patterns and wildcards; configs can be exported as JSON
  • Chrome Regex Search - Use regular expressions to search on websites (not the best but others are worse)
  • KeePassXC-Browser - Browser integration plugin for password manager

Password manager

  • KeePassXC
    • Also available without cloud sync (for privacy reasons / potential risk of data leaks)
    • Multiple encryption options for password database
    • Very lightweight but feature rich
    • No install / portable version available (even supports auto-start)
    • Install the Chrome extention for full support within the browser
