I tried to install the webcompat environment on windows using Chocolatey. All node plugin could install. However, I have not managed to install python..

I don't currently have a Windows env to mess around with this, so any and all contributions welcome. :)

Perhaps @andrewmcgivery could write down some of his notes in this issue (or send a PR with instructions in CONTRIBUTING.md).

Nice resource to perhaps steal be inspired from: #363 (comment)

As I mentioned in the other issue, I never really got the windows stuff fully set up. I got stuck mostly around the Python stuff. Couldn't get the virtual environment stuff to install and setup properly. I believe I got Python and Pip installed, but even the Pip commands wouldn't work in command prompt.... tried to set up the Python folder where pip lives as a path, but still no luck.

Also, if you need to mess around with a windows environment, you could always set up a VM using an image from modern.ie: https://www.modern.ie/en-us/virtualization-tools#downloads

@hallvors said "just throw it over", which means he's going to help with this. Unless he meant throw this issue in the trash.

TODO:

@hallvors to write notes of how he got his setup working.
@miketaylr and @haseebgit to test out the instructions and write docs.

Well, since we've fixed #758 it's a lot easier - make sure python and node are on your PATH, ignore all instructions saying "make" or "sudo" and you'll be fine :-p

Somewhat better Windows instructions, I think. Fixes #364
