- When a new version of ARIA becomes a W3C Recommendation, AKA becomes a standard, it is accompanied by a new version of WAI-ARIA Authoring Practices.
- Note: WAI-ARIA 1.0 did not include an authoring practices guide; APG 1.0 was not completed.
- WAI-ARIA 1.1 became a recommendation on December 14, 2017, and it was accompanied by APG 1.1 Release 1.
- Since APG 1.1 does not cover all of ARIA 1.1, additional releases were made roughly every 6 months to make progress toward closing the coverage gap.
- In parallel with development of APG 1.1, APG 1.2 is also being developed to cover ARIA 1.2.
- A working draft of APG 1.2 will accompany each publication of a working draft of the ARIA 1.2 specification.
